Designing Products in Virtual Reality First is the Future, Here’s Why

Dassault Systemes teams are able to visualize and collaborate on virtual scale designs in real time.

"Just to be in a immersive environment totally changes the way that you perceive your design”, Xavier Melkonian (Director, CATIA Design Portfolio at Dassault Systemes), “We are moving into an era of 3D experience where immersive experience is critical."

For automotive design, creating a full-scale model is an integral part of the design process. With HTC VIVE Pro, Dassault Systemes designers, engineers and product managers are able to visualize and collaborate on virtual scale designs in real time without having to produce physical mockups.

The immersive experience is key; the design philosophy of Dassault Systemes has always been working in 3D; experiencing design in a much more immersive and natural way to improve the consumer experience.  Within their 3DEXPERIENCE Platform is a sophisticated software application called CATIA Natural Sketch with Immersive Visual Experience; enabling the design of very complex products, but now allowing designers to design directly in VR, even in the conceptualization stage.  3D design visualization is key to Dassault Systemes, and HTC VIVE is an integral part of this.
