VIVE ArUco Marker Generator
The VIVE ArUco Marker Generator allows you to create ArUco markers for the following marker-based tracking features:
- Marker-Based Location Sharing
- Marker-Based Drift Prevention
- Marker-Based Relocation
- Marker-Based Scene Alignment
You can specify the number of markers you need and configure their size, resolution, and other attributes specific to the tracking features you plan to use for your play area. After configuring marker settings, you can generate a JSON file that contains the marker settings, the APIs required for the corresponding tracking feature, and image files for the ArUco markers.
For details on creating ArUco markers, see the following:
- Creating ArUco markers for Marker-Based Location Sharing
- Creating ArUco markers for Marker-Based Drift Prevention

To avoid potential issues when generating JSON files with the VIVE ArUco Marker Generator, make sure your computer's display language is set to English.
You can download the VIVE ArUco Marker Generator from the VIVE Community Forum (https://forum.htc.com/topic/13535-app-marker-setting-generator-for-aruco-marker-update-on-113/).
Tips for creating ArUco markers
Keep the following in mind when creating ArUco markers.
- Print markers on a sheet of paper or heavyweight paperboard, depending on how large they are. Make sure the marker and the edge of the paper are separated by at least 2 centimeters.
- A marker measuring 28 centimeters on each side will fit on an A3-sized sheet of paper and can be scanned from 1.7 meters away. Larger markers can be scanned from farther away.
- If you're setting up more than one marker, place the markers as far away from each other as possible for optimal tracking performance.
- The direction a marker faces inside the play area affects its accuracy. Don't move or rotate markers after placing them in the play area, or you'll have to edit the marker settings, and depending on the tracking mode you're using, create a new map.
