Visual Odometry (VO) Mode
In multiplayer VR setups where users frequently rotate in and out of the play area, recalibrating the headset for each user and restarting the VR experience in a specific location can be very time consuming.
When using VO Mode, 6DoF tracking starts right after the user puts on their headset, and both the direction of view and center of coordination are set according to the user's orientation.
In VO Mode, no map is saved on the headset. However, even without a map, VO Mode still allows users to set headset orientation and floor position.
In addition, VO Mode can be used with Marker-Based Location Sharing to allow multiple users to share their locations in the same VR space while minimizing the turnover time between user rotations in and out of the play area. For details, see Marker-Based Location Sharing.
VO Mode is designed for:
- Large, multiplayer VR setups that emphasize viewing experiences
- Single-player arcade games where users stand in the same place for the entirety of play
- Athletic training sessions where teammates take turns performing specific exercises
For pre-setup information, see Pre-setup. For details on setting up the headsets, see Setting up the headsets.
