Area 1 - Entrance

The trainee teleports to the Maintenance Site, with an entrance to the confined space and a blue marker in the shape of the air blower appears on the ground. A light switch with the blue Intrinsically safe appears to the right of the confined space entrance. Behind the trainee, a truck with a permit, an air blower, and a ladder in the truck bed. The subsequent setups simulate a real-life dangerous scenario.

If the trainee drops one of the required items, the item will respawn at their belt or at the original position.

The following conditions will cause any setup to be marked as failed:

Falling
Using damaged or incorrect equipment (broken radio, broken 5-gas meter, or incorrect meter). Trainees may equip these items - but failure is triggered on use.

Setup 1: Read the Permit

The trainee should begin by reading the permit on the back of the truck. Once the trainee starts reading the permit, a green circle will appear and grow as the trainee reads. Once the permit has been read, a green check mark will appear, and a positive beep plays.

If the trainee enters the confined space without reading the permit, the setup will be marked as failed.

Setup 2: Enter Confined Space Safely (Turn on the Lights)

The trainee should walk to the light switch. Pressing the button lights up the confined space, making a latter placement marker visible.

If the trainee enters the confined space without turning on the lights, this setup is marked as failed. If the trainee descends without turning on the light, they will automatically fail: the screen darkens and an orange destination circle with arrows pointing inward will appear. The following appears:

To continue, move to the center.

The trainee then returns to the lesson start point.

If the trainee turns on the light to the confined space before entering it, the setup is successful and the trainee can progress once they enter into the space.

Setup 3: Deploy Ladder

Once trainee has read the permit and turned on the light, they are ready to deploy the ladder. The trainee must grasp the ladder and take it out of the truck.

Then, they must walk to the entrance of the confined space, near the light switch, and place the ladder on the blue ladder UI marker.

The setup will be marked as passed if the trainee does not fall into the confined space.

The setup will be marked as failed if the trainee falls into the confined space without using the ladder.

Setup 4: Don't Lose Equipment

This setup is marked as passed if the trainee enters the confined space without losing the radio and 5-gas meter.

The setup is marked as failed if the trainee enters the confined space without the radio and 5-gas meter.

Setup 5: Deploy Air Blower

Before entering the confined space, the trainee must deploy the air blower. They must grasp it and take it out of the truck bed by reaching out for it, pressing and holding the trigger, and then setting it on the blue air blower marker on the ground, to the left of the confined space entrance.

Setting it down will automatically deploy it. The trainee will need to press AIR IN to start the air blower and properly ventilate the confined space.

If the trainee goes down the ladder without ventilating the confined space, a coughing voice over plays, and the trainee automatically fails the lesson upon reaching the bottom of the space. The screen darkens and an orange destination circle with arrows pointing inwards will appear. The following appears:

To continue, move to the center.

When the trainee enters the circle, they reappear at the lesson start point.

The setup is successful if the trainee turns on the deployed air blower before entering the confined space.

Setup 6: Deploy Gas Meter

Before entering the confined space, the trainee should deploy the 5-gas meter sensor into the space to the correct depth, and confirm that the confined space is ready to enter.

The setup is marked as failed if the trainee does not properly deploy the 5-gas meter into the confined space before entering.

The setup is marked as passed if the trainee properly deploys the 5-gas meter into the confined space before entering.

Setup 7: Call for Assistance

Before entering the confined space, the trainee will need to request assistance by pressing HOLE WATCH on the radio. This will spawn an NPC coworker with a 5-gas meter who stands above and monitor the confined space. The trainee will find themselves tethered to the winch.

Once the NPC coworker appears, the trainee should then grab the ladder and enter the confined space.

If the trainee does not radio for assistance before entering into the confined space, the setup is marked as failed.

If the trainee radios for assistance before entering the confined space, the setup is marked as passed.
